1. Chinese and American families have many drastic differences, one of the greater being the different views on individualization. In China, the concept of individualization is downplayed over the "betterment of the whole" approach. To them, the family and the country come before the individual. This is not so prevalent in America simply due to the fact that we accept the idea of "Betterment of the individual" more so than the "betterment of the whole" approach. This difference is very influential as to family values and traditions.
In China, it is extremely common for the grown-up children to take care of their elderly parents by living with them. This makes it equally common to see grandparents, parents and grandchildren living under one roof. This is not as common in America as the children generally move on to form their own lives and families after they come of age, living away from their parents.
Respect is also an important value in Chinese families. It is considered that the children must always show the utmost respect towards their parents and elders (this also correlates with the above paragraph), and that the elders have the final say in regards to the operations of the family. In America, respect is still an important family value, but is once again downplayed by the younger generation.
1. the difference is that in the Chinese Culture they are more family oriented unlike american culture. Also in chinese culture the children respect their elders more and look up to them. they do not disrespect them! Moreover the families are more disciplined with their children and are strict unlike in American Culture.
2. Many other cultures are using chinese cultures because they realize how much more disciplined the chilfren are. Also in the households the chinese children end up taking care of their parents unlike in other cultures and that is of something to respect. Lastly they are adopting it because the in a chinese household they are family oriented which more cultures are wanting in their lives.
1. Well, one difference is that Chinese families focus on a more collective lifestyle, where members are just part of a whole. In Chinese families relationships between older and younger generations are very strong. As an adult, the child will take care of the parents. The parents in turn will help the children take care of grandchildren.
2. Chinese culture and values have created generatuions of children that are disciplined and always show respect. Since, the generations in a family are co-dependent upon one another this creates a united, collective family. Many other families in other countries want the bond that families in China develop because of their values. So, many others are wiling to try this approach to see if it has a positive outcome for their future and families.
1. The difference between Chinese families and American families is how the families interact with each other. Chinese families seem to be close-knit and respectful of each other. In the meanwhile, American families may be close-knit and respectful as well, but not all of them seem to be that way.
2. In a way, all the Asian cultures are influencing each other. The Chinese culture brings forth Confucianism, the Japanese culture brings forth tradition, and the Korean culture brings together tradition, honor for the country, and respect for the family name (Sorry if these sound biased but I am half Korean...). Koreans are taught to cherish life, be loyal to their country, remain dutiful to their parents, and be faithful to friends since they were children.
1) In Chinese culture they revolve their morals around the family unit. Chinese and American cultures have very diverse lifestyles relating to the family and morals. Chinese families are very strict and have a certain path they want their children to take, where in America families are lenient to what their kids do.
2) Asian cultures are similar in some ways but all have their differences. In Japanese culture they are taught they they have a personal duty and that they need to fulfill this to continue the family tradition. The Chinese do similar but also use Confucianism, which focuses on ethics and the building of personal virtue. Both are similar to some extent, but far different in depth.
